DAYLILIES in our Yard, 2014---Part II

EARLY BIRD CARDINAL (taken on 6/15)--This is always our FIRST DayLily to bloom, and it blooms over and over.
This is my 2nd DayLily post this year.  IF you missed the first one showing 15 daylilies),  please click HERE.   We ended up with 55 different varieties of DayLilies in our yard this year. Today I'm sharing 15 more.  First,  I'm showing you the DayLilies in the Small Flowerbed in front of our large rose bed.  Above is Early Bird Cardinal.  Below are the others in that bed.

LADY ELIZABETH  (7/10)

LAVENDER DEAL (7/08) ---Pretty color,  isn't it?

ORANGE VOLS (7/16);  You know I love this one since it reminds me of my favorite sports team,  the Tennessee Vols (with ORANGE and white as their colors)

***********************
The next flowerbed  I'll share is the Road Flowerbed --where the Daylilies really show off...  Hope you enjoy this next group.
SOUTH SEAS  (6/30)

SPANISH GLOW  (7/11)

JANIS BROWN (6/26)

ELEGANT CANDY (6/22)

WILD HORSES (6/28)

WINEBERRY CANDY (7/16)

CARLOTTA (7/15)  (Carlotta is a late-bloomer.)

Two in One:  CUSTARD CANDY (on left)  and FOOLED ME (on right)--taken on 6/27

***************************************
BICOLOR  (7/21)
There are two more DayLilies I have to share with you today... First above is the other one from the Garage Flower Bed which had not bloomed when I featured that bed in Part I.  This is one of the last daylilies to bloom --but it is SO pretty!  Don't you agree?

DAD ADAMS DAYLILIES (6/21)
And this one is special to George and me since his Daddy gave these little daylilies to us when we first moved here to Fairfield Glade.

****************************
I will close with two pictures showing some of the Daylily Beds.  The photo above is the Small Bed (in front of our Rose Bed)...  It's small --but the entire bed brought us quite a bit of color this summer. This photo was taken on 7/10.

ROAD BED (showing Daylilies, Lilies, Roses and Irises)
AND--this is my favorite bed  (photo taken on 7/1)--the Road Flower Bed.  The colors and blooms in this bed are gorgeous beginning in Spring -- with the Roses blooming through Fall. AND---since many of our DayLilies are re-bloomers,  we hope to have many of them re-bloom in the Fall.  How special is that!

Hope you enjoyed seeing more of our Day Lilies.  Do you have a favorite out of this group?  There are many that I like really well in this group--but my two favorites are Orange Vols and Wild Horses.   We have good luck with Day Lilies here since the critters don't dig up the bulbs --and the deer stay away from them (MOST of the time)... ha...

ADDENDUM:  Early Bird Cardinal (the red one at the top) is now blooming again already on 8/28/14  for its Fall Blooms.  IF you want a Daylily that blooms ALOT,  get this one from Oakes Daylilies....  It's TERRIFIC!!!

Hugs,

Hi Betsy, Having some trouble getting to sleep tonight! But I must say it has been a pleasure to come upon your sight and to see your glorious and gorgeous lilies! They are out of this world beautiful. I went back over them a few times and I don't think I could ever pick a favorite because they are all so pretty. I must say that your father-in-law's are simply exquisite....I really think they are very attractive in a row as they are. You and your husband really do put your heart and soul into your lilies and it certainly shows. Thank you for allowing me to see such beauties!

Each time I chose a favourite I moved on to look at the next group and yet another favourite. In the end I found it impossible to choose from such an incredible range of beauties.

Betsy, these are all gorgeous images of your daylilies..It is way too hard to pick a favorite, they are all lovely. Have a happy day!

You have such a lovely assortment - they are all favorites. We were gone to England during prime daylily blooming season this year and the deer knew it too. I think our tough winter took a toll on the plants too as it did on other shrubs and perennials. There's always next year. Thanks for the tour of those lovelies.

Some real show stoppers. I bet a few cars stop and admire these. I have quite a few around the farm, a favorite family always of mine.

South Seas and Spanish Glow!! Wonder if I choose the same every year? The lilies around here are all pretty much shot.

Fifty-five varieties! Oh my goodness. They are all so pretty. I do love daylilies.

They are all gorgeous though the Candy varieties are my favorite. Hard and almost indestructible they are great flowers for borders. Mrs. T is not a fan though because she favors cut flowers. Oh well....:)

Your yard must look amazing when all these are in bloom! Love them all, but I think Elegant Candy has a slight edge over the rest. Love the color!

Beautiful. I'm planning on planting some day lilies next year.

THE ARE WONDERFUL!! Let me ask - do yo always let them grow natural or do you ever pick them and make a bouquet?

You have so many beautiful colors! Gorgeous!

Arkansas Patti said...

It looks like the only day lilies I will enjoy this year are yours. The voles have really caused my plot to fail. They also de-rooted my variegated wegelia. Pox on voles.
Thank you for letting me see what they can look like. You have an amazing variety.

Your house area must have been filled with sweet fragrance. :)

Oh boy those are some beautiful lilies. I do like the wild Horses but I love the orange ones and then red and then oh heck I like them all.
Jim the gardener is a chef at a restaurant up the road in Mount Vernon but he loves gardening and as the garden winds down salmon fishing is next. We have fresh salmon all the time. YUM!!

Dear Betsy, like you, Wild Horses is one of my two favorites from your garden. My other favorite is Wineberry Candy. Both so beautiful and two-toned. Thank you for sharing. Your road bed garden is indeed breathtakingly beautiful. Peace.

You have such a beautiful assortment! Hard to pick a favorite.

They're all beautiful and those that were given to you by George's father are a lovely reminder of Mr. Adams. How special! Good to hear that the lilies give you more colour in the Autumn when they bloom again.

Hello Betsy,
I saw your name on another blog and I'm so happy I peeped in on your post. I am absolutely, completely stunned by your day lillies. I share your love of gardening but I've moved around so much lately that this summer was like starting all over. I've planted day lillies but they are still wimpy. Our growing season is short and I'm already getting ready for fall. Perhap you can have flowers al year round. :)

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

The photos of your lily beds are beautiful, Betsy! It must be so nice to see that wall of color when they are all in bloom. I don't think I ever saw a lavender colored lily before so that was one of my favorites in this post.

Happy Labor Day!

Good gosh! I had no idea there were so many different kinds of day lilies. We had some in Illinois, but they were just plain yellow. I had to call Art over to look at your day lilies. We are thoroughly impressed.

Linda said...

That's a ton of day lilies. Impressive.

Beatriz said...

Hello Betsy!
My favorite photo is the last one, without any doubt! All kinds of flowers gathered in the same poetic and sublime way! You have a knack with flowers and they even seem to like all care they receive and reciprocate it, congratulations!
